Jung Sky's sales team ready for the exploding private jet charter demand in the summer

With the summer season at our doorstep, the private jet charter industry is entering its busiest stretch - and Jung Sky is more than ready. We sat down with our Head of Sales, Ivan Jakovac, to talk about what’s ahead for our team, how we handle record-breaking demand, and what continues to set Jung Sky apart in a fiercely competitive market.
Ivan, is the sales team ready for yet another summer season?
More than ready. Even though the past few months have been very good results-wise, we've been eagerly awaiting that familiar pre-summer rush and momentum. The team is focused, confident, and fully prepared to deliver another exceptional season. Our target is clear: surpass all previous summers - in number of flights, flight hours, revenue, and above all, client and broker satisfaction.
There's a high level of trust and mutual support within our team, and we are aware of the high expectations from both our clients and Jung Sky’s management. But truthfully, I couldn’t ask for better teammates than Marin, Dalibor and Matija to once again take on all the challenges the summer in business aviation brings. Alongside our Operational Control Centre, our wonderful pilots, and the rest of our departments, we’re ready for the traditional surge in flight requests from May to September.

Are you already seeing bookings for July and August?
Absolutely. Every day we’re getting hundreds of inquiries for the months ahead, and many flights in July and August have already been booked. It's rewarding to see that both brokers and passengers recognize the quality of our service, and that they continue to book us year after year. Given how fast our availability is decreasing, I’d really encourage anyone considering a summer booking to reach out to us as soon as possible.
How many inquiries do you typically receive during summer months?
Looking at June, July and August over the last four years, we average around 30,000 flight inquiries in that specific period, and that’s just via Avinode. That number does not include direct calls, emails, or other channels. July is hands-down our busiest month every year, making it the undisputed peak of our season.
To give a wider context - in January this year, we’ve received around 6,000 inquiries. In March, it was 7,400, and already in May it went above 10,000. If this pace continues, and all signs say it will, we’ll hit the 30,000 mark in June and July alone. I mean, the demand during summer months really is off the charts. Many of our dear clients often say it's a real shame we don't have more jets, and - looking at these numbers - I couldn't agree more.

How do you manage such volumes, especially with the increasing operational challenges during summertime?
I would say it's a matter of experience, first and foremost. Deep understanding of the market and the familiarity with our regular clients also, and being decisive and fast. We’ve set high standards for ourselves, and we stick to them, we don’t compromise. The end result is a service we can be proud of, and I believe our clients recognize that on a daily basis.
But yes, the summer season definitely brings its fair share of complications and challenges, air traffic congestion across Europe being among the bigger ones. Slot issues at major hubs and popular summer destinations can lead to delays and affect passenger satisfaction. However, our team - not just in sales - but the pilots and our OCC department as well, they're all very experienced, solutions-driven, and persistent. They’re the reason we’re able to navigate most situations quickly and keep both the passengers and our brokers happy. There are also some limitations on some airports like tight parking, slow fuel turnaround, etc, but again, we face those together and always work to minimize any disruption for our passengers. Team work, working hard and continuous improvement, that’s the only long-term strategy that works.

Brokers often praise your team's speed, transparency, and accuracy. How do you maintain that during such a demanding summer schedule?
It’s tempting to say “easily”, because we're good at what we do and we’re experienced, but it’s not easy. The stress levels in this industry are unlike most others, especially during season peak, but our aviation background helps us stay calm under pressure and react quickly when needed. We’re a team that thrives on precision. We're always pushing ourselves to improve, learning from each case - and yes, sometimes even from our mistakes. We also work very closely with our Operational Control Centre (OCC) which is essentially the brain behind all our missions. Their support is crucial: they provide fast, accurate information so that we can respond to brokers with tailored offers and solutions in the shortest possible time.
Ultimately, I think one of our biggest strengths is that we never really slow down, even outside peak season. Our jets are pretty much flying constantly and we're processing high volumes of requests year-round, which keeps us sharp. That discipline pays off in the summer when demand hits the next level. In the end, the feedback we receive from brokers and passengers tells us we’re on the right track.
(Dalibor)
Let us finish off with a non-business topic. If you could choose a team-building trip for the sales team before summer kicks off, where would you take them?
I’d go for a quiet retreat in the Croatian mountains, a secluded cabin surrounded by forest, fresh air, and silence. The perfect setting to reset and mentally prepare for the season ahead. Although, knowing our team as well as myself, that peace and quiet would probably last one day before we would call the rest of our colleagues at Jung Sky, fired up the grill, and turn the event into a proper get-together before diving into another exciting season.
(Ivan)
And what about after the season? A kind of celebration – where would you take the team then?
For that one, I wouldn’t go far, I’d keep it right here in Zagreb, our home base. I’m picturing an all-night party on the 26th floor of the skyscraper where our office is, surrounded by the entire Jung Sky team, our partners, and hopefully the brokers we’ve worked closely with all summer to make this season the best one in our history.
